Pet Sitter/Dog Walker (Starting PT ---> FT)

This is a flexible opportunity with growth potential, for the right person!
We are a professional in-home pet sitting and dog walking business servicing the Asheville/Weaverville areas and are in need of a dedicated and hard working Independent Contractor to join our team!
The position will begin as part-time, possibly evolving into full time.
Shifts Available:
Mon.-Fri. Evening (2p - 8p) and Weekend Shifts. Occasional overnight pet sits are a possibility as well.
Qualifications:
Experience with companion animals is a must! Volunteering and fostering certainly count! By nature, this job entails interacting with companion animals who do not fare well in a traditional boarding environment. So an understanding of animal behavior and low stress handling is important. Having experience administering medications is a plus.
Reliable means of transportation and a valid Driver’s License is needed as you will be driving to and from jobs on your own. Smartphone is pertinent as photo updates and software application access will be needed while out and about. During your shifts, being responsive and available is important. Maintaining a schedule, as well as time management is the key to success. Being comfortable communicating with the clients’ humans is very important. We are an In-Home service, meaning we care for the animals in their homes. While living close to Asheville is not required, most all of our clients are in town. The closer you live to town, the less drive time each day. Must be able to follow direction, be detail oriented, and humble. Caring for animals independently takes a dedication to honest work while unsupervised. Being capable of going up and down stairs and walking large dogs is important. This is an active position! Safety is our top priority while caring for clients! Attention to detail and the surrounding environment is key to keeping yourself safe, as well as the client. Pet sitting is unpredictable! Patience and problem solving are needed!
Background check must be completed. Being dependable and trustworthy is absolutely pertinent as you will be alone in a client’s home.

We, as a business, have over two decades of experience in animal hospitals, rescues, etc. In essence, our background focuses on professional care. Meaning we are punctual, detail oriented, and confident animal carers. We don’t just “love” animals. We are passionate about their care. We keep ourselves up to date on Animal Behavior science and work with some of the best trainers in our area. We maintain CPR/First Aid certification and are insured. We, ourselves, lead a plant-based lifestyle and strive to treat all creatures how we would like to be treated.
This business model is very different than casually watching your friend’s pups while they are out of town. Our clients have come to expect the very best and it is of the utmost importance to us to always offer that.
An ideal Independent Contractor who will join our team would not only be passionate about animal care, but also have a dedication to hard work ethic and learning new things. Ideally we are looking for someone to join our small family business as a long term team member rather than seasonal or short-term help. This position has a great amount of flexibility and self-direction, so a person who thrives in that environment will really shine. This position is not a good fit for someone who prefers to operate under direct and constant management.
Starting Contracted Wage:
$11-18 per visit
$50-65 per overnight
