Hello!

I am the founder and owner of Mountain Pet Valet. I began MPV in 2016 and have been fine tuning and navigating what it means to be an "ethical" business in modern culture.

This page is created in hopes to lead the way in transparency and client comprehension. Below are facts I think you will find interesting, I imagine some of this info may even be shocking to you. I'll do my best to keep it simple!

Why Not Rover?

Institutions like Rover take zero responsibility for things like

no-shows

damage to property

theft

or loss of life

Rover is owned by Blackstone, a private equity firm that has a wrap sheet a mile long that continues to monopolize real estate around the WORLD.  Just ONE of it's dirty schemes is first creating a housing crisis, and then profiting from the crisis it so carefully created.

Pricing Explained

2024

- MPV collected 110,000 in client fees in 2024

- 54% of that went directly to sitters

- 5% went to software

- 1.5% for Insurance

- 25% went to the admin team

I get paid the same amount as my team, no more.

Every year it gets harder and harder to run an ethical business. I am committed to integrity in every single facet of MPV. Most days I live with this question, "Is ethical small business possible/sustainable anymore, or is that an idea of the past?"

Sitter Pay

- Over 53% of your cost goes DIRECTLY to your sitter

- When you cancel, MPV still compensates your sitter

- If a sitter needs to cancel due to weather related safety issues,

        yep! They still get paid!

- The benefit of having a human that is paid a fair wage, enjoys their work, and is shown respect in their field, is passed down to you.
